The Maggi Fiasco

With my last blog out, my brain got breather to talk about other stuff.

Amidst all the Nestle Maggi controversy and recall, I'm wondering what will it be like without Maggi. It is awfully horrible to imagine those empty sections of D'mart, Big Bazaar, Hypercity which had overflowing Maggi noodle packets.

It is giving me nostalgia when I had my first acquaintance with Maggi. It was the rarest food and tasted sinfully awesome. Even Sunday special brunch would be just a week away.

I thank god, it is all happening after my sister completed her Engineering. My Mom used to bring lots of Maggi packets so that my sister doesn't stay hungry while studying. And I'm so very sure that she would stay up just to eat Maggi. I must say Maggi has good share of contribution to her scores.

I have survived on Maggi for most of my dinners for almost 6 months in US, just to realize I need to start cooking. (Cooking part is completely to ignore)
Same would be story of so so many Indians.

Though I'm happy that action has been taken despite the feeling of 'Why? Why Maggi?'
Still question is - Should we thank government for saving us from lead-content food (even though tobacco, alcohol consumption are harmful since centuries), or rather bill government for increased breakfast / dinner effort of Indian Ladies?

Lastly I rest my case with heavy heart for the end of an Maggi noodles Era (which I so wish to be not true), and thank it for fond memories and support on all lonely dinner times.

Meri Maggi, Bas do minute!!!

Losing the sense of self to find myself again

6 months since my girl is gone and I still dread that night. I don't know if I dread or still can't believe how 2 hours can topple your life equations. I thought it was just the usual summer heat, gave her curd, and water; took her on my lap, making her drink some more water. And suddenly she had hiccups or some shocks, and stool came out. We rushed to the hospital, and I held her. She weighed 17-20 kg. Not a lot compared to my Doberman. While taking her through the elevator, I could feel her getting heavier, and my heart sinking deeper with that weight.  Just so much heaviness, and madness at that moment. I forgot my phone, Akshar picked up my sister's car key. Her husband was coming with us. While we were just leaving, she came running with her 2-year-old, saying the door got closed and Coffee (my Doberman) was inside. And all of us forgot the house keys. We left, while her husband stayed to figure out how to open the door. We were driving to Aundh Crown Hospital, and Aks...

Distorted Reality

It's been a while and finally this is getting out of my head.  J I borrow this title from  'S teve Jobs' by  Walter Isaacson , because M anipulation sounded RUDE  L  and I have already been sitting over this topic for months. It is making me restless. Once my brother told me that as we grow up, we lose our innocence and start manipulating people to believe in our own ideals. I have been thinking over this for quite sometime. Does it come with age or this is our natural instinct? In our eco-system, many animals play dead or  camouflage  etc. (Zoology doesn't like me  L ). They are manipulating others to believe in their fake identity. I don't think they ever take classes for it. It comes naturally to them as part of their survival instinct. After all we as well are social animals. Although our survival needs are different, but instinct is probably same. Talk about innocence in Kids . Ummm?!!? They know how to ...

#MeToo embarrassed, ashamed, and Strong #MumbaiGirls

Those were the initial days when I had started travelling alone. For the first time in 15 years, I was travelling alone by Bus. I was anxious, worried if I will get down at correct stop or not. I would have asked almost 5 times to people if Ghatkopar station came, got down and I had no clue which way is station. Finally, I reach other side of the station and take another Bus, reach college. Wow! It is not so difficult Amrita. You can get used to it! I was wearing a fitted Sky Blue Salwar Kameez which was one of my favorites. While returning, Buses were not as empty as in the morning and I have no idea how to get into that. 4 Buses gone. Alright, need to get into that now, looked at people and next bus I’m in that crowded Bus. I’m in that fully packed Bus and touched everywhere, can’t say if it is space or intention. Ignore and keep moving! Now it is routine and everyday new story. Someone touching bottom, someone front. I can keep my Bag either front or back. I decide, it is ...
